The Pre-Publishing Process
While each volume has already been written and the sketches for each of them have been completed, each volume is put through a pre-publishing process. First, the author organizes the text and makes any additions or subtractions as needed. Then the manuscript is sent to four different editors, each with their own specialty, for any changes. Once that is completed, the author and the grammar editor read through it again for additional corrections. Then the author goes through it once more for any last-minute changes before it is sent to the publisher.
During the editing process, pictures are taken depicting the sketch for that volume. Then the author’s sketch and the pictures are sent to the artist. After the artist’s sketch is approved by the author, it, along with the finished manuscript, are sent to the publisher. Toward the end of the editing process, the manuscript is sent to a reviewer, who reads it and critiques it. Her review will then be posted on the Readers’ Review page of this site and also in the finished volume.
The process at the publisher takes approximately five to six months, which includes one last edit by the author. Once the author approves the publisher’s setup of the manuscript and any changes to the cover text, then it will be sent to the printer. Once the author approves the printer’s setup, the volume goes live and its information is sent to online bookstores and can be purchased.
It’s the author’s desire to release one volume every eight to ten months, but sometimes time and unforeseen occurrences get in the way. That is why this page was designed – to keep Through Phantom Eyes readers informed.
